Tomoaki Katsuba

Tomoaki Katsuba is a Japanese artist whose work challenges conventional perception by exploring the evolving relationship between humans and nature. Using photography as his underlying medium, he reveals aspects of everyday scenes that are not normally recognised or are often overlooked.

Working across landscape, cityscape, and street scenes, he captures people and the built environment as they are gradually dissolved and reshaped by natural elements such as mist, clouds, light, shadow, and time itself. By blurring the boundary between the subjects and their surroundings, he transforms these scenes into works that move between realism and abstraction, inviting viewers to discover otherwise unseen aspects of perception.

Katsuba has received more than 100 international awards and titles, including the 2024 One Eyeland Awards Photographer of the Year in Nature, Architecture, and Hong Kong. His work has also been featured in a range of international publications.
