COLOURS OF HOPE

Like many others, artist Antoine de Saint Vaulry took up drawing during the pandemic. Born and raised in France, he has worked as a banker in Paris, London and Hong Kong, and, during his and his family’s peripatetic life, has always been strongly drawn towards art. He’s been based in Hong Kong for the last 15 years, with his family.

 

Currently, Antoine uses maps and photographic prints, gathered from his travels and everyday experiences, as support for his alcohol markers drawings. He uses bright colours and simple lines to subvert the artwork’s original support and create wholly new and unfamiliar images, which interrogates the viewer about familiarness, roots and cultural identity.
